We Have Lost The “wasadmin” Account Password!

By Milan Matejic | 3/31/20 2:22 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

If you have lost the "wasadmin" account password or any other local WebSphere account, there is a rather simple way to recover it. Just connect to the server where WebSphere Deployment Manager is running, via RDP or SSH, depending on the OS of the server, and open the "security.xml" file located under "<WebSphere_Installation_Directory>/AppServer/profiles/<Deployment_Manager_Profile>/config/cells/<Cell_Name>" for example…

By Milan Matejic | 3/25/20 2:37 AM | Infrastructure - Sametime | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

HCL Sametime 11 – ST Proxy Server & DNS

By Milan Matejic | 3/25/20 2:36 AM | Infrastructure - Sametime | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

Obviously, when deploying any application, DNS is important and the needed DNS entries need to be set. Before deploying the HCL Sametime 11 Proxy Server you need to make sure that the MongoDB and the Sametime Community Servers are reachable via FQDNs and hostnames.

Getting started with DQL

By Mark Leusink | 3/22/20 3:54 PM | Development - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Do you remember? A little over 2 weeks ago was Engage. How quickly everything can change… When you were at Engage you might have seen the session I did with Oliver Busse on DQL. The slides and demo code can be found here and here. We touched how to get started with DQL briefly, and based on the questions we received I think it’s a good idea to write a couple of articles on the topic. This is the first.

#dnug47 not in Berlin

By DNUG | 3/20/20 7:59 AM | Business - News | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

The situation is unfortunately clear. We can’t justify a #dnug47 in June as a presence event. This also applies to all planned events of our User Group. But we are prepared for online formats and want to offer this as an alternative. We have developed a plan for this, which we will discuss with the specialist groups on March, 27th 2020. We will present the results here soon. Your board Daniel, Jürgen, Matthias & Verena

PSYCHED about DQL Next

By John D. Curtis | 3/20/20 5:32 AM | Development - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

DQL Next is under design. What we have provided in Domino 10 and 11 is basically a find engine using all available means within Domino of searching document contents. We’re not done there to be sure. But what follows is a vast set of capability never bundled as we are going to bundle it. I’m excited about it, because it will make Domino developers very powerful and efficient.

Making Working From Home Work - Dev | Blog

It may not be a great time for going out, but it's my hope everyone finds some small way to celebrate and have a bit of fun, since lots of peoples's anxiety levels are probably elevated. In any case, have a good, fun time, and hopefully don't do anything that'll scare the pets, kids, or your spouse.

Prevent upgrading the NAMES.NSF after Domino migration

By Rainer Brandl | 3/16/20 2:16 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

First of all it´s not recommended to run a Domino Server with an older design on the Domino Directory but for some reasons it´s necessary. To prevent the question to upgrade your Domino Directory after installing a new release you simply can put the following entry in the NOTES.INI of the server: SERVER_UPGRADE_NO_DIRECTORY_REDESIGN=1

Determining why records appear in your employee.error file in the TDI Assemblyline

By Martijn de Jong | 3/16/20 2:14 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

Your TDI solution directory contains a couple of files which all start with employee. These files tell you which records were added, updated, deleted, skipped or produced an error. The last file is usually the most interesting one. Often employee records give an error because a user was deleted at an earlier stage and recreated with a different GUID. Sometimes users are created with the same login ID as a previous user, which was long deleted and there are more relatively obvious reasons like that why an employee record would create an error. However, sometimes you are just completely in the dark of why a record gives an error. That’s when this little tip helps you to determine the problem.

Domino Docker Project update -- OpenShift support & Podman+Docker+K8s support for "arbitrarily assigned user ID"

By Daniel Nashed | 3/16/20 2:11 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

A couple of days ago I got the request from Daniele Vistalli, a fellow HCL Master, that he needs support to run Domino on Kubernetes (K8s) with a so called "arbitrarily assigned user ID". He and the team around him are doing incredible work to finalize Factor-y's MSP offering which included Domino on K8s as part of their platform. Running with distinct UIDs is an important security aspect, when offering cloud services separating data between containers -- and even more important tenants.

HCL Nomad Web, the new client for HCL Domino

By Remco Angioni | 3/8/20 11:21 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Without replacing the “old” HCL Notes client, HCL introduced a new client. HCL Nomad Web will work from within your browser as it is the Notes Client. A download less then 100MB will be enough to start the client. Still works with your notes.id in the Vault and uses all Domino security layers. Secure like before !! And with the upcoming 2FA ( MFA ) starting with HCL Domino V12, it’s clear….we are ready for it.

A big thanks to Martin Lechleiter and Tim Clark for this. The day ended with the HCL Masters Reception at the Hotel bar this evening

Amsterdamned #engageug #dominoforever #hcldigital

I am currently sitting in my hotel room near Amsterdam Schipol airport. I missed my flight in the morning because the Dutch train canceled several connections and the train I was in finally also had delays due to technical issues on the track. Another delay resulted in the need to change the train at Amsterdam Central. Anyway, I didn't make it in time, I was about 1 hour late. But why I am here?

By Ales Lichtenberg | 3/5/20 1:29 PM | Business - Events / People | Added by Oliver Busse

Although Day 1 was long, the start of Day 2, which was already at 8 am, did not allow much rest. The composition of the program did not allow a thorough tour of the zoo, but Burgers’ Ocean really surprised me.

The Lay of the Java Land, Early 2020

By Jesse Gallagher | 3/4/20 3:52 PM | Development - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

I was musing earlier (somewhat incorrectly) about the weird state of Java versions, and it got me thinking about how odd the landscape looks in general lately, even as things are progressing splendidly. And, since not everyone follows a dozen Java-related Twitter feeds to keep up on all this stuff I figured it'd be useful to have a summary.
