By Gabriella Davis | 6/26/19 2:27 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I’m very pleased to announce the launch of a new project I am working on with HCL to reinvigorate the Notes and Domino templates as they roll out on new client platforms such as iPhone, tablet and a lightweight web client. See here for more information on the project.

Domino Server Health – Monitoring and Managing @ Engage

By Gabriella Davis | 5/22/19 1:49 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

This is my session on Domino Server Health given at Engage in Brussels last week. If you’re a Domino administrator how do you decide what to monitor on your servers and how to manage them ? What are the key things to monitor? How do good practice management tools such as statistics reporting, DDM, cluster symmetry, database repair and policy settings make your work lighter and faster. Finally we’ll talk about some of the “must dos” in the day, week and month of a Domino admin.

Face/Off Domino vs Exchange On Premises @ Engage

By Gabriella Davis | 5/22/19 1:48 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

Here is my presentation discussing how Exchange and Outlook on premises differs from Domino and Notes given at Engage in Brussels last week. I hope you find it useful, this was my first presentation pulling together my ideas from the past few years of working with Exchange on premises integration projects.

Here is my presentation from Engage in Brussels last week on 60 Admin Tips across Domino, Sametime and Traveler.

A Few Days In Brussels #EngageUG

By Gabriella Davis | 5/16/19 1:25 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I have just returned from Engage UG – Theo Heselmans’ European conference, this year held at Autoworld in Brussels. A beautiful location, even for someone who cares little for cars (but enjoys belgian beer, frites and chocolate).

Think-ing From Far Away

By Gabriella Davis | 2/7/19 1:53 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

As many of you know, next week is IBM Think in San Francisco. Unfortunately I won’t be able to be there and neither will my fellow Lifetime Champions Julian Robichaux and Theo Heselmans so we wanted to do our own version of “Think” for those of us who are missing out. Starting next week we plan to record a daily 30 minute audio podcast discussing the news coming out of Think and some of the presentations and sponsors that are there.

Whooomf – All Change. HCL Buys The Shop…

By Gabriella Davis | 12/7/18 1:30 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

According to this Press Release as of mid June 2019, HCL take ownership of a bunch of IBM products including Notes, Domino and Connections on premises. Right now and since late 2017 there has been a partnership with IBM on some of the products such as Notes, Domino, Traveler and Sametime* so this will take IBM out of the picture entirely. Here are my first “oh hey it’s 4am” thoughts on why that’s not entirely surprising or unwelcome news ..

Definitely different – a few days looking into the future with HCL (and IBM)

By Gabriella Davis | 7/18/18 2:16 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I can’t thank everyone at HCL enough for throwing open the doors and leaving them open. Together we will continue to innovate great things for customers Last week Tim and I were invited to the 1st CWP Factory tour held by HCL at their offices in Chelmsford.

Engage Week & Lots of News

By Gabriella Davis | 5/24/18 4:25 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

This week was the Engage conference held in Rotterdam – the largest and (IMO) best event Theo Heselmans has given us yet. Rotterdam is a lovely city and the water taxi that took us from the restaurant back to the boat last night turned a 5 minute ride into a James Bond chase sequence – at several points he took corners by tilting the boat almost entirely on its side (there goes Tim!) and then onto the other side (bye Mike!) before pulling a handrake turn and reversing up to the dock – worth every cent of four and a half Euro.

Path To A Perfect 10 #perfect10

By Gabriella Davis | 5/10/18 11:38 AM | - | Added by John Oldenburger

Here’s an intro to a new blog series I am starting to hopefully take us all through preparing for v10 of the ICS products due out later this year. If you have suggestions for what you’d find useful outside of the things I mention in the video please let me know. I’ll be using the hashtag #perfect10 for this.

THINK Adventures

By Gabriella Davis | 1/19/18 10:59 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

IBM Think is fast approaching in March (19-22) in Las Vegas. I enjoyed the larger scale and scope of InterConnect and this is going to be even bigger so here we go….

{blink}So THAT’S the future{blink}

By Gabriella Davis | 1/15/18 8:51 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted here. The end of last year was a juggle of many different pieces of work and learning new technologies but more on that later. I did however take my eye off the ICS (IBM Collaboration Solutions) ball waiting for the HCL deal to firm up and find out more what was going on.

Looking For A Few Champions

By Gabriella Davis | 11/7/17 11:59 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

IBM Champion nominations are upon us and with only a week to go to get those in I wanted to send out a plea. I would love to nominate you as a Champion. Yes YOU. Unfortunately in most cases I don’t know enough about who you are and what you do.

Watson Work Services – Connect Review #4

By Gabriella Davis | 3/15/17 4:56 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I know it’s a bit late in the day but I have a couple more things I want to talk about post Connect and with preparations for Interconnect and trying to tie up work before I go away – well these got pushed back.

Connections Futures – IBM Connect Review #3

By Gabriella Davis | 3/1/17 4:18 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

We interrupt this blog to apologise. Usually I like to sanity check my statements before publishing them but 80%+ of presentations from IBM Connect are missing online. That means my notes are all I have right now.

It’s Cham-peen Time

By Gabriella Davis | 10/15/16 12:32 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

The IBM Champion program is once more open for nominations for 2017 Champions. For those of you that don’t know, the Champion program has been set up by IBM to reward and thank people who have established a voice in their community.

MWLUG Presentations & Wrap Up

By Gabriella Davis | 8/22/16 4:22 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

After serveral weeks travelling around the US doing work and visiting friends we ended up in Autin for MWLUG. Another great event organised by Richard Moy and the team with lots of great sessions including Scott Souder’s session on IBM Verse, more on Project Toscana and Ben Langhinrichs’ on Data Visualisation which is an area I’m working a lot in right now.

EPHOX Textbox.io – Documentation error

By Gabriella Davis | 6/27/16 4:50 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

When installing Textbox.io, one of the rich text editors for Connections 5.5 from Ephox, you have the option post install to configure a spellchecker. It’s actually a very nice feature that spellchecks on the fly in any rich text field within connections.

Last week in Eindhoven…

By Gabriella Davis | 3/30/16 8:44 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

We were in Eindhoven last week at the Engage conference.. over 400 attendees, speakers and IBM’ers gathered for two days of learning, talking and cleaning out the hotel bar of tonic water.. I’ve been to several of the past Engage conferences and Theo always puts on a great event but this was bigger and better than ever. So why?

Say Thank You To Someone

By Gabriella Davis | 9/28/15 8:06 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I’ve been involved in lots of conversations recently with people wondering how to keep the “IBM Collaboration” community vibrant and alive as we face fewer and fewer meet ups in real life and more diverse technologies. I’ve been working in this Community since the mid 90s and watched it grow off the hard work and selfless contributions of people who just wanted to share ideas and knowledge with each other. Even without as many real life connections, this community thrives on people sharing their time, ideas and knowledge.

A Statement From IBM On El Capitan and iOS9 Support

By Gabriella Davis | 9/15/15 12:28 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

IBM have today released a statement explaining why some applications will be unable to connect to Domino servers from iOS9 and El Capitan devices due to Apple removing support for Elliptic curve technology (no – me either) and enhanced transport security.

IBM Connections Mobile – Issues On Android

By Gabriella Davis | 8/26/15 9:35 AM | - | Added by Kenio Carvalho

This is one of those posts that scare me – I’m fairly sure someone else must have seen and blogged this but since I can’t find anything I am writing this up.

The Recurring WebSphere Bug And Connections External Users

By Gabriella Davis | 5/24/15 8:40 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I wanted to share a recurring WebSphere bug that I noticed over a year ago because although it was irritating then, if it occurs now it can actually prevent you from deploying Connections external users the way you want. Here's the scenario (and it's fairly common for me). IBM Connections 5 CR2 on WebSphere 8.5.5…
