How to redirect an URL in Domino and break the Domino-server's attempt to append any URL-parameter like "?OpenDocument" to the target URL!!

By Robert Ibsen Voith | 2/17/18 6:22 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

This is a story of something that I anticipated should take 5 minutes to fix. It turned out to take a couple of hours instead! Very briefly - using the redirect web site rules, Domino will transfer any URL parameters (like ?OpenDocument, ?OpenForm etc) from the source URL-pattern to the target URL. If the target URL doesn't like OpenDocument very well, this ends up in an "HTTP Web Server: Invalid URL Exception".

Time for a new Notes/ Domino support model

By Mark Leusink | 2/8/18 6:51 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

I’m pretty happy with FP10: great that with we now have up-to-date Eclipse/ Java/ OSGi version. Despite some obvious glitches it works reasonably well for me. But if you read the blogs and follow Twitter: a lot of people are having issues. The current ‘gold’ version would have been a great beta (2) and with a couple of fixes a great release.

You better Think!

By Sharon James | 2/7/18 6:44 AM | Community - Events / People | Added by Oliver Busse

It is early February .. and cold in the UK, normally we would be just returning or just preparing to go on the annual ICS exodus to Orlando for the beloved Lotusphere / Connect conference ..but not this year. This year IBM have boldly gone – in the way of the Starship Enterprise – to another world for their annual conference this year. BUT not just for us ICS people!

By Remco Angioni | 2/4/18 12:53 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Ever migrated a website running on a Microsoft Windows Domino environment to a Linux Domino environment. The first thing you CAN detect, is that developers are sometimes not so strict using the UPPER- and lowercase in their code when defining folders.

Development Server Installation Gotchas

By Paul Withers | 2/2/18 4:22 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Following on from my last blog post, when I came to installing Domino I encountered two issues, both of which I’ve encountered before and both I’d forgotten the resolution and struggled to find it. Making mistakes is unavoidable. Making the same mistake twice, however, is. So I’m resorting to my standard resolution: blog about it. At the very least, it will help me. In all likelihood it will also help others.

When to use Serverless? When to use Kubernetes?

By Niklas Heidloff | 2/1/18 9:20 AM | App Dev - Cloud | Added by Oliver Busse

A question that I get asked very often these days is: Should I use Serverless or Kubernetes to build cloud native applications? Both computing options have pros and cons and it depends on your needs which option you should choose.

Explore the hidden parts of an application

By Ulrich Krause | 1/29/18 3:12 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

Did you ever ask yourself, where Notes/Domino stores the information about specific application properties like DAOS and NIFNSF and how to get access to this information? Most of the information about an application is accessible by methods and properties in the NotesDatabase class from LotusScript or Java.

Cannot open XPage in DDE? A possible solution

By Oliver Busse | 1/29/18 2:52 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

I recently encountered a weird behaviour in Domino Designer - again. There was one custom control I was not able to open anymore. The effect was that the XSP editor window appeared delayed but got no focus and didn't show anything. When I clicked the tab Domino Designer also almost crashed.

By Paul Withers | 1/23/18 9:36 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

The firs part I’ll cover is the scheduler – Node-RED. Many developers may not be familiar with it, but for more on why I think it’s a good fit, see the previous part of the series. The best place to get started is the Getting Started part of the Node-RED site. Node-RED, as its name implies, is a NodeJS application.

First, good on IBM/et al for putting this together. After reading some of the submissions ("layers"... really?!), I'm hoping that the good ideas get in front of the right people. For those curious, here's a quick recap of what I submitted

Friday the 12th of January was a busy day for me .. Off to London for the face to face #Domino2025 Jam. Approx 35 – 40 of us slip up into teams discussing and prioritising what we would like to see for IBM Domino App dev, mail, apps support and sametime for version 10 and beyond.
